Why are we doing this?

In the last year, we have seen the crucial role that key workers play in keeping our nation safe, well, and on the move. Whether it is teachers or nurses, cleaners or couriers, carers or shopworkers – millions of people, often on low pay, keep our nation going.

But the truth is that they serve our nation like this every year and often for little recognition. So, the aim of this competition has been to make a contribution to raising the profile of their work, recognising their value and hearing their stories.

This website is intended to be a lasting tribute to the UK’s key workers - a monument made of poems from many different people from across the country.

Who are we?

The competition has been developed and run by Clean for Good as part of its wider mission as a social business in promoting fair pay and dignity at work for cleaners.

Clean for Good is an ethical office and workspace cleaning company in London, established in 2017 by a group of churches and charities. Our vision as a social business is to be part of the solution in bringing fair pay and dignified work to cleaners in the UK. We directly employ our workers, are a Living Wage Employer, provide decent terms and conditions and invest in training and good management. We work for the day when every cleaner in the UK earns a real Living Wage and has dignified working conditions.
